California Firestorm 2007

We escaped the evacuation orders last night and the night before, each time it was semi-contained within 1/2 mile of our house. Both of those fires are south-west of us now heading for the ocean.
We are currently awaiting evacuation orders from the third fire heading our way. The air is dirty and hard to breathe but we are doing all right. I wish I could say the same for our animals, the dogs are a bit sad and depressed, rabbits are having hard time and the chickens, turkey, and duck are doing worse of all; no eggs for the last 3 days, they all have hard time breathing.
I do not think that we will have to leave as of now. It looks like the choppers and planes have finally made it down here from the north (the worst north SD county is actually a military base and they sure take a good care of that by themselves).
1,800 houses, most in the most expensive areas of the county, $3-$20 million places have been burned so far. Over 1 million people were evacuated so far, I think that about 250,000 are starting to return, or at least they are able to inspect their properties for few minutes.
My office was evacuated 2 times, about 40 of my co-workers and their families, pets are there now, homeless.
Most of the north-east county is going to be returning home later today, hopefully.
It is shear madness down here.
