Our Mission Statement
The mission of Center Pointe, formerly Spokane Rehabilitation Center, is to provide educational, socialization and recreational opportunities for people with physical, psychological, and developmental disabilities living in Spokane County. Our youngest participant is 23 years old, and our oldest is 89. The minimum age to participate in activities is 18.

The Center operates in a classroom format offering a variety of classes throughout the week between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. These classes are designed to meet the needs of people who have varying levels of functional ability. A by-invitation-only dance is held once a quarter. When possible during the spring, summer, and fall, field trips are offered to such places as Riverfront Park, Manito Park, The Spokesman-Review to name just a few. Eighty percent of our classes are taught by volunteer instructors who donate anywhere from two to 30 hours per week.
The Center and its programs serve approximately 350 people per month. This number includes providing a meeting facility for support groups such as the Day Out for the Blind of Spokane or Alcoholics Anonymous, and other groups whose interests range from computers to meditation. Of those who participate directly in the Center’s classroom activities, 97% are low income the majority of whom are living on either Social Security Supplemental Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability through their parents.
Center Pointe receives no federal, state or local government funding. But because of the commitment of our volunteers, an active Board of Directors and funding through United Way and other community service organizations, Center Pointe is able to provide its programs at minimal cost to our participants. Participants can choose to either pay-as-they-go or to be billed at the end of each month.
Center Pointe welcomes visitors. Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. June through August and 8:30 a.m. 4:30 p.m. September through May. If you are interested in being a participant or know someone who is, please call us at 325-5451. We will be happy to give you a tour of our facility.
