TINCANThe I nland N orthwest C ommunity A ccess N etwork was a grant program providing free Internet access to the public and especially to non-profit organizations in the Spokane area when I worked there. Now, The Inland Northwest Community Access Network, is a computer-based electronic community network that provides a wide range of community-based information and services to people in the Inland Northwest. TINCAN serves Spokane , Stevens, Ferry, and Pend Oreille, Counties in Washington and in partnership with its sister network, NICON, the counties of North Idaho . TINCAN's primary focus is on community. education and business with a variety of programs for each topic. I have worked at TINCAN twice, first time in 1998 as a job through a work-study program. I was able to design many small web sites and learn how to code by hand, design the best looking page layout and consistent site look, while keeping all pages 100% text browser compatible. I also learned a lot about Unix based systems, modem banks, Unix security, and command window FTP protocol. The second time I worked at TINCAN I was invited back to take over the program as a Webmaster and Web development team manager (with up to 4 people independently working on small projects under my supervision). Fast paced web site creation with of short notice orders was only part of what I have learned from my job @ TINCAN. The close and frequent coordination with customers benefiting from the digital project (mostly non-profit organizations, some of which had free hardware from the TINCAN project) was a great skill to learn. The ability to be a leader was a great adition to my personality and my knowledge of good interaction with others while working on group projects. The ability to work anywhere and any time was excellent because of my full time school load at the time. It was the first time I realized how working from home is making things easier for everyone. Here is a list of some of the sites I built and designed. Please note that all of these pages are local copies, the information might not be up-to-date and the places, contact, programs, or whatever it is the page is about might not exist. TINCAN as I knew it does not exist anymore. || Spokane Symphony || University Hearing & Speech Clinic || Dixieland jaz festival || || Common Ground || Corbin Senior Center || Coalition for responsible disabled || Midcity concerns || the N.a.t.i.v.e. project || center Pointe || SaCsd || Spokane Housing Authority || Special Mobility Services || ST.
